My Asus Eee PC 701 is celebrating its first birthday with me this month. I remember how I scoured the web looking for all the information and reviews that I could get about this little gadget. And back then the majority of what I’ve read were praises. Those people who reviewed it really convinced me to try the Eee PC as I was then looking for a computer to replace my desktop PC that had conked out.
I was quickly sold to buying the Eee PC because it solved my three computing concerns:
1. Mobility
I liked the idea that I could compose an article whenever and wherever I feel like it. And true enough, my Eee PC let me do exactly that. When I’m at the mall I could just drop by a coffee shop or any restaurant and write there. Or after work, before I went home, I go to the office’s pantry and use it there. It’s mobility at its best.
2. Lightweight
The Eee PC is so small that it can easily fit in my backpack. And when it’s there, I can’t feel it at all. It’s so light that I sometimes have to check my bag just to make sure that it’s still there.
3. Just the right amount of computing power.
I am not a gamer. I am not a programmer. I am not a graphic designer. I am a writer. All I need to get my job done is a word processor (I use Jarte or if I need something more powerful, OpenOffice Writer) and a web browser (Firefox and Chrome). That’s it. I don’t need the fastest processor or the biggest RAM for that.
Here’s a photo of my Eee PC when it’s nicely nestled at home. I attached an LCD monitor to it because one thing that I admit, the Eee PC 701’s display tires my eyes after hours of continuous use.

Happy birthday! I just got my first netbook 2 weeks ago. It’s an Acer Aspire One. I love it for all the reasons you listed, plus being exceptionally inexpensive.
hey, happee beeday to your eee! i could totally relate! what i love about it is it’s barely 1kg (i.e. without the battery) that i could toss it like a ball without extra effort, lol mine is 1 year and four months old. 701/703 is the best netbook to date, performance-wise. cool LCD ^_^
i loooove your logo btw!
Hey, thanks!
It’s the work of an amateur graphic designer– me! LOL!
Belated Happy Birthday eeeeepc!!!!
Love to read when people can use small computers to get their work done. I’m so connected to my full-size keyboard, 24″ widescreen monitor, and having two computers running at the same time (for when I need to do a Word doc when one computer renders one of my videos. Hey, good for you… and happy belated birthday.
