IM Is Too Distracting
I bumped into a co-worker when I was getting a drink from the pantry. We had a little chit chat and then she mentioned why I no longer log on to my instant messenger client. I told her that I find it too distracting. The flashing of the IM on my task bar really distracts me and breaks my flow of thought especially when I’m busy writing an article.
She gave me a weird look as if saying ‘how could that be distracting?’. Well, for me it does.
I am not the perfect employee who does nothing but work every minute. Is there anybody like that? But when I really need to work, I do want to concentrate and the flashing of IM highly contributes to my unproductivity.
