BayanDSL: How to Lie to Get A Subscriber

by Mj Ces on July 21, 2008

I have just relocated somewhere here in Quezon City and as soon as I was settled down, one of my priorities was to get an internet connection. I went to PLDT (went… because I couldn’t find a contact number at their myDSL website) but they told me they’re still not servicing our area. So my next choice was Bayantel.

The BayanDSL agent was very courteous. She answered all my questions about the packages they offer, the speeds available and the last one: “Will it take more than a month until Bayantel get me connected?”

Her answer was no. “Just a few weeks, sir,” she said. It turns out I should have quantified her ‘weeks’ statement.

I submitted all the requirements she asked from me and after a week called me up at the office telling me I’m already lined up for DSL connection.

“Lined up?” I asked her reminding her what she told me earlier that it wouldn’t take long. I asked her for how long will I wait.

“I’m sorry sir, but there are a lot of customers. You’ll get connected in at least a month.”

Great! I thought.

So she lied to me when she said it wouldn’t take long. I’m looking for another provider perhaps a Smartbro or Globe. What a great start being a Bayantel customer. They lied to me at this early stage of our relationship. Imagine what lies ahead for the one-year lock-in period with their DSL service.

That’s really bad Marvz18. I also had the same promises before with PLDT DSL. Their 2 week commitment became 2 mos.=(

Hi Dennis,

If you’re really from Bayantel, I admire your brave move to “own” the concern. If you will help more customers like Pinoycopywriter, you deserve a raise =p

I got a Bayantel Wireless Landline Prepaid recently. I’m using it for internet, too. It’s dial-up, though. But so far, it’s useful. Here’s my experience…

Good luck with your bayanDSL subscription! Mine’s not doing good. It has been a nightmare for the past months. I have an open fault ticket which they haven’t properly addressed/resolved yet for the past three months. And worst part is you have to deal with discourteous Tech Support Reps! Darn!

I’ve posted all my communications with BayanDSL at http://request-timed-out.blogspot.com and http://bayandsl.multiply.com. Well… official communications plus rants! hehehe
