Beating Blogger’s Block
I have been an advocate of regularly updating one’s blog. I quantify ‘regularly’ by making at least one post per week. And I failed because it has been two weeks since I last made a post.
In my defense, it wasn’t because I was too lazy to write, it’s because I didn’t know what to write. And it’s not just a typical case of writer’s block. It’s more specific.
It’s blogger’s block.
I never thought I would suffer from blogger’s block thinking that there are so many things to blog about, whatever your blog’s niche may be.
And it wasn’t about whether I was in the mood to write. Mood was never a problem. It’s that each time I start to type and has already gone about a paragraph or two, I would highlight all the text and then press delete. I wasn’t satisfied with what I was writing.
Perhaps I was just not inspired enough to get started. So I did all the things that I used to do just to find some inspiration. I read newspapers, browsed the web, watched movie on my DVD player (one movie after another), and even buzzed my friends who were online on Yahoo! Messenger just so I could have somebody to talk to. But none was effective.
So what did I do today to get me started writing on a blog post? I wrote about blogger’s block.
Hah! Quite effective I might say. I made lemon out of… hmmm, how does that old saying goes?
Oh, well, I guess I still have that block after all.

You`re not alone. I normally write 4-7 posts a week. But right now, I am having trouble doing that… and that`s because of what you just called ‘blogger`s block’. Yes, there are a lot of things or subjects that we could surely blog about, but I still don`t understand why such thing happens. And I hate it! I hate it, I hate it, and I hate it! Do I need to elaborate?

I set a goal of writing at least 5 out of 7 days, but never posting for than once a day.
If I fell the urge to write a second post, I’ll write it and then save it in my drafts for posting on those days when I’m stuck.
The other thing I do when I get blocked on trying to write a good post is I write what I think will be a crappy post. Sometimes I get stuck simply because I’m trying to do to much. The ironic thing is that those posts I thought would be lousy often turn out to be some of my most popular ones.
The best way to start writing is to simply start writing.

i’ve been in the same situation when i was still keeping a personal blog. no amount of head banging and hair pulling could inspire me to write a post. hence, i ended up deleting the blog, lol jk!
im sure it will come to you. sometimes, reading through the inspiring comments give ideas and encourage blog authors to resume writing.
good luck in beating that block! m an avid reader of your blog ^_^
