The Greeting Card Writer

One of my first jobs was writing greeting card sentiments. I did that for about three years. It was fun, really, writing about short poems, love notes and of course those ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘Congratulations On Your Graduation’ cards.

I used to write about 30 greeting card sentiments a day. But later on, sales dwindled and the greeting card business became less profitable so I transferred to marketing communication which is a more promising career.

Anyway, the reason why I mentioned my greeting card writing stint is because of this video that I came across. It’s about a greeting card writer telling us the ways on how he gets the inspiration to write those card sentiments.

Note: I never broke a bottle of beer on my head just to be inspired. :)

Ahh… I read a lot and watch movies. I think that’s how I get my inspiration.

  2. Watching the video reminds me of Adam Sandler in his movie Mr. Deeds. Writing greeting cards really involves a lot of wit and humor.

I haven’t seen that movie. And to think that I’m a Sandler fan. :)
