Creating A Blog Post Worthy of A Harley
Let’s have a quick game. Picture a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Do you see the big bike in your mind? Can you see the shining chrome that dazzles your eyes every time sunlight hits it? Do you hear the great rumbling noise it makes as you throttle up its engine?
Now, can you describe the Harley-Davidson motorcycle you just saw? I asked a friend to do that and he came up with these three descriptions: classic, stylish and powerful.
A blog post can also be like a Harley-Davidson, minus the great price tag.
Classic
A Harley-Davidson bike is a classic. And it will stay that way for years and that’s what makes it such a great investment. When we write a blog entry, let’s try to elevate it into a classic.
How? By giving a sense of purpose to every post. Make it meaningful to others so they will have a reason to go back and anticipate another post.
When you write about your new cellphone for example, do not just say that it is nice and a great buy. Tell your readers what makes it nice. Is it the 5-megapixel digital camera? Is it the easy-to-use interface? By better describing your topic, you make your post more interesting to read.
Stylish
A Harley is designed to attract and your blog post should, too. It all starts with your blog’s personality. Find the right personality for your blog and stick to it so your readers will not get confused each time they visit.
Personality is not that easy to establish. Sometimes it takes just a few posts, other times it takes a hundred before you can find a personality that suits your blog. Some say a blog is a living thing and it does not only assume the personality of its author, but at times, creates its own. Find that distinct personality, nurture it then let it style your blog into something that is completely unique.
Powerful
A Harley-Davidson bike does not only make noise. It roars! Your blog post can roar, too if it is complete and its parts are well-oiled and in perfect condition.
Make sure your title conveys your post’s message. If you can make it catchy at the same time, the better.
Check your grammar and spelling. An article with poor grammar and lots of misspelled words is hard to read.
Put facts. While your opinion matters (it’s your blog after all), facts give your assumptions and arguments more firepower.
The picture above is of a Harley-Davidson Touring. It is complete and it’s the completeness that gives it strength to stand out of the crowd. The various Harley Davidson Touring parts work together to create one of the most powerful machines known to man. So is your article that it must have all of its parts working perfectly to create one stylish, powerful and classic blog post.
